It's a Saturday night during the offseason, which means it's time to S.N.O.T. on Battle Red Blog.
For anyone who doesn't know what we try to do with the S.N.O.T. here at BRB, the idea is for you to talk about what's rattling around your brainspace (within community guidelines, of course) on this Saturday evening of a holiday weekend.
If that means Texans talk, great. If it means nervous chatter about and excitable reactions to the Houston Rockets' quest to win Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals (remember, the game is at 8 p.m. CDT), go for it. If it means you want to wax poetic about the first place Houston Astros, follow that urge. Or if it has nothing to do with sports, that's perfectly fine as well. Movies, books, food, drink, weather, travel...it's your call.
And because it wouldn't be S.N.O.T. without a music recommendation, I present for your consideration Chris Stapleton's "Whiskey and You."
He's starting to get some airplay on commercial radio, but I got tipped off to him via his association with the producer of Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson's most recent records, both of whom I think are awesome. Turns out Stapleton has been writing big hits that other artists have covered for quite some time; in fact, the song featured above was apparently covered by Tim McGraw on one of his albums years back. Regardless, I heartily recommend Stapleton's first solo record, "Traveller."
Tonight, however, I much prefer this auditory experience.
With that, BRB's Saturday Night Open Thread is open for business. Enjoy your evening.
