I'm a Houston Texans fan thanks to my mother

Hello my fellow Houston Texans fans, I'd like to share with you why I am such a die hard fan of our favorite NFL Team.

It all starts back in the early 80's. My father was a fighter pilot, flew F-4's for the Air Force. This meant we moved around a lot. My dad's parents resided in Texas City and mother's parents in Houston proper. So for me, Houston always meant family. I also remember Sunday's, after getting home from Church mom would throw on the TV and root on her Houston Oiler's! She had posters in the main entry of all our homes of various players. Heck I still have a signed Earl Campbell/Bum Phillips photo she got.

Sadly, mom never lived to see the Texans, having passed away in '83 from cancer. However she did pass on to me a love of the Oiler's. When they were no more, I quit watching football. It was dead to me. When the Texans first took the field against Dallas, in their very first ever game, I was watching. I've watched every game I could since. I've written sports articles on the Texans off and on for a website or two over time, and follow everything Texans.

Mom made me a fan of Houston Football, and I'd like to say I do her fanatical following of the Luv'Ya Blue Oiler's justice as I follow the Boys in Battle Red. I owe my love of football to her, and thankfully I have a team worth rooting for.
