Saturday Night's Alright For Commenting: BRB Open Thread (02/11/12)
We're kicking around the idea of having a regular Saturday evening open thread here at BRB, either in addition to or when "Saturday Night Tunes" is on hiatus. While it's almost sure to end poorly, what can I say? I'm a pie-eyed optimist. Let's touch that hot stove, shall we?
Consider this your open thread to discuss whatever you're up to or thinking about on this fine Saturday night, Texans-related or not. The community guidelines are always in effect, so use your good judgment in what you post for public consumption.
Alan Burge: Texans Draft Watch (Whitney Mercilus)
If Super Mario leaves for greener pastures, you will start to read a whole lot more about Mercilus as the draft approaches. If/When that happens, remember that Alan Burge was all over the idea well before the rest of the draftniks were.
Draft 2012: The Overrated
Including Alshon Jeffery
Looking for info on Mario Williams contract
I have read conflicting information regarding Mario Williams contract and the Texans ability to resign him. Some people are optimistic, stating that Mario's cap hit would likely be less next year than it was last year. Other people are pessimistic, stating that the Texans will have a hard time resigning him given that they are so close to the cap now. Does anyone have more detail regarding Mario's contract and whether or not the Texans will be able to resign him?
Sanu vs. Jeffery
I recently made a mock where I had the Texans taking Alshon Jeffery in the first instead of Mohamed Sanu I think a majority of you thought I was crazy or a dumb ass. So I decided to compare them as prospects.
Why not trade Tate/TJ?
I was reading some thing somewhere about Yates and Tate and for a while it got me thinking. Barring a real big regression in teh Schaub we are set at the QB position for the next 3, 4 years. If we can get Arian signed up for a long term deal we also have a proven first choice RB. Right now our immediate requirement(something that will make the team better from day 1) is at WR, NT, OLB depth and another lock down CB to play opposite JJ.
What if we trade Yates and Tate, get some picks for that(lets say 1 first rounder and 2 second rounders ok let's say 2 second rounders), trade those picks and the picks we have so that we end up with 2 high first rounders and 1 second rounder and go up and pick up a couple of good WRs(round 1 and 2) a NT (in round 1) and a backup RB in round 3 (I am sure with our ZB schemes a 3rd rounder will be able to get some good production).
We will immediately improve the team from day 1 of 2012. We will have a backup QB in Leiniart, a backup RB in the new guy we pick, 2 first round WRs to learn from and eventually replace AJ and a solid NT to make the defense better.
Do you think it's a good plan? How much value do you think we can get from TJ and Tate? What do you guys think?

BRB's Twitter And Facebook Accounts Are Not Just RSS Feeds Anymore
In an effort to provide more unintelligible rants original content to the BRB community, we're making a concerted effort to increase our activity on the official BRB Twitter (@battleredblog) and BRB Facebook (here's a link) pages. I'll be in charge of the Twitter happenings, and BFD has volunteered to helm the horrendous failure that is sure to be this site's increased Facebook activity.
Livers permitting, there will be exclusive new stuff (read: dumbarsery you don't get to see on the site) on both Twitter and Facebook each day (or most days, anyway). For example, I've taken to posing "Tonight's Texans Twitter Query" (#TTTQ) each evening and chatting with whoever responds, and I'm trying to make it a point to interact on Twitter throughout the workday as time permits as well.
So if you've got a Twitter or Facebook account, feel free to join the party by "following" or "friending" BRB. Additionally, several of your favorite BRB "staff members" have individual Twitter accounts, which I will reveal after the jump.
