Jacksonville 37, Houston 17

And it wasn't even as close as the score indicates.  The Jags provided the Texans with ample opportunities in the first quarter to run away with this game via generally sloppy play and multiple turnovers, but Houston failed to capitalize in any way.  When the Texans did not take advantage of those hiccups, Jacksonville simply dominated the game in every conceivable facet from there on out.  Jacksonville looked like a Super Bowl contender, and the Texans looked powerless to stop them.

Final box score is here.  Much, much more on this one later.

Update [2007-10-16 15:22:47 by Tim]: Life has gotten in the way of fandom this week, but my game recap, as well as the usual other nonsense, will be up tomorrow. My apologies for the radio silence.

yikes
That was painful. Penalties, not being able to take advantage of Jag mistakes, no running offense or defense.  Despite putting up almost 400 yards of offense on the jags, this Texans team (in the 2nd half) didn't look like the one we've seen most of this season.

And its interesting how when Faggins makes a great play on an end zone fade, it doesn't matter because we had a penalty that nullified it and gave Jax a fresh set of downs.  Then, he commits a penalty on a 3rd down (away from the play) that gives Jax another fresh set of downs, instead of forcing them to punt to us when the game was still close.

Schuab
every game... he turns it over...big time... I was traveling , so missed most the game, but I heard after I landed and was driving, the fumble and interception, again..and I'm worried.  It has been the one consistant and predictable part of his performance in every game.

silver lining
I think, even with these errors, there's a lot to like.  i think we have to consider this his rookie or, at best, sophomore year.  it's his first year as a starter.  he needs to stop making that one huge error a game, but there is hope.

re>schaub
1texan, you obviously did not watch the game as you stated if you are trying to attribute those turnovers to schaub.

the INT was not an INT
and the fumble of which has not been a problem for him,  he was sacked from behind (never saw it)
It's hard to blame this on him.  if you had seen it...

this was, however, the worst officiated NFL game I have ver seen

question
I saw some references to it in the live blog (bad reffing), but do you have some stories to share?

Schaub II
It's a choke every game...and no, I  did not see this one.  Understand, I want Schaub to do well...but that doesn't make it so.  We can't score in the red zone and we are fearfully close to turning it over...or we do...  I'm looking for answers and it seems we hesitate instead of being aggresive.  Can't coach that...lets hope it improves, as BFD says, he's still a rookie.

and
yes, the INT was an INT, and the fumble, was a fumble.

If anybody needs me
I'll be hiding in a fucking bunker to avoid reading about this game.

Disappointed
We really need an attitude adjustment before next week's game.  Since losing to Indy, we've lost to an Atlanta team that can barely punch its way out of a wet paper bag, barely beat a Miami team that can't punch its way out of a wet paper bag, and got steamrolled by a division rival.

I still think 8-8 is likely, but I thought it would feel a little better than this.  We're not playing playoff-caliber ball right now.  Heck, we're not even playing .500 ball right now.

I've checked Amazon, eBay, & Craig's List
But alas, there appears to be no Red Zone Offense for sale anywhere.

Damn it.

We can be critical of the draft picks, but in the end we always support the new Texan.

However
Spencer Tillman did write a book that the team might want to read.  It's called "Scoring in the Red Zone."

Get the phone
Call up the Switzer (yes, that Switzer) Talent Agency and you can get the real thing!

Plus he lives in Sugarland, so he could be there by Wednesday's practice... Finally an answer to our prayers!

Shakin 'em off one win at a time...
