Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Open Gameday Thread--Houston v. Indianapolis

A win today would guarantee the first non-losing season in franchise history.  It would be historic for a second reason as well:  Your Houston Texans have never won in Indianapolis.  So is another Christmas miracle against Peyton Manning & Co. in store?  Or will Santa fill Gary Kubiak's stocking up with fecal matter?

Leave your pre-game, in-game, and post-game holiday cheer in the Comments below.  GO TEXANS!

K-Dub Strikes Again
17 yards, Sage to Walters.

Dre and K-Dub make one hell of a WR tandem.

Bennett?
Did he defend that 3rd down pass?  Or was it a bad throw?

Re: Fred
He defended the shit out of it.  It was a great throw, and he made a helluva play to get around and knock it away.

Darius
is running really well.  He is making a case to possibly make the team next year, and I like him at least as a third down back.  However, OD needs to hang on to the ball!

You Beat Me To It
I've always hated Tr. Johnson, and my hatred just grows exponentially every time he does something completely inexcusable like that.

Fuck him.

Give him a break
The play still seemed live and he fell onto Manning.  That was a ludicrous call.
Tell me again why I follow sports?

by DisplacedTexan on Dec 23, 2007 1:02 PM CST up reply actions

Respectfully Disagree
Mario looked like he had already gotten up after taking Peyton down, so I don't think you can say the play was still live.

But I'll readily admit it was a dicey call.  It's not like he hurt him.  Still, our guys have to know better than to sneeze in the direction of the NFL's Golden Boy.  It's just a complete lack of savvy on TJ's part.

by 5stringJeff on Dec 23, 2007 1:01 PM CST reply actions

Re: WTF
He fell on Peyton after Mario had already taken him down and moved out of the way.  Dicey call to be sure, but you have to realize that Peyton Manning is going to get the benefit of every doubt.

Fuck Tr. Johnson.

by Tim on Dec 23, 2007 1:02 PM CST up reply actions

That's BS
QBs get treated with kid gloves.  I understand why the NFL does it ($, $, $, $, $) but it still sucks.

Still, I agree, if you're a D-lineman, you ought to understand the realities of the game, and one of those realities is that the NFL will protect QBs more than they ought to be protected.  Stupid move.

it was a close call, but TJ is not going to get the benefit of the doubt on anything.

2 runs and a 4th down we should have gone for.  Really aggressive play calling, Kubes.  Love it.  Just makes me want to put on a helmet and run through a wall.

This
Has gotten embarrassing.  The Colts have absolutely nothing to play for, and they're pantsing us.

After that first drive, the Texans have looked terrible.

by Tim on Dec 23, 2007 1:55 PM CST reply actions

What bugs me...
Is that seems to be a theme.  The Texans almost ALWAYS look sharp on the first drive.  But then they go to pieces - Jax game, Titans game, Browns game...  I don't understand why we can't keep it together for at least a half.

And this defense could not be more Jeckle-Hyde.

Reprehensible
I've run out of words to describe Houston's play.  I guess I could be pissed at the Colts for continuing to pass, but why?  It's not like they wouldn't pick up first downs every time they ran as well.

Defense hasn't looked this bad in a long, long time.  And the offense--well, I hope all the "Sage Should Start" folks take the time to watch this disaster from start to finish.

Each INT
Is worse than the one before it.  Sage is doing an excellent job quashing any interest another team might have in making him their starter.
