Echemandontworkhereanymore

In news that has likely left MDC a weeping pile of goo and peppermint schnapps, the Texans cut Joe Echemandu yesterday.  Merry Christmas, Adimchinobi!  You have ten (10) minutes to get out of Reliant Park.

While I've got my fingers crossed that the activation of DelJuan Robinson is the precursor to Smithiak granting my wish for the swift removal of Travis Johnson from the active roster (a man can dream), I'm still a bit surprised that Echemandu got the boot with a couple of days left in the season.  Sure, he hadn't really played any meaningful snaps since Oakland, but the guy seemed to have a burst that was in short supply.  Then again, perhaps the brass made the executive decision that Darius Walker was simply a better option going forward.  Regardless, best of luck to Joe Echemandu in his future endeavors.

Its not you, its me
I have a sneaking suspicion Ed Wade had something to do with this.

Whoa wierd...
You said "Ed Wade" and then I blacked out.  When I came too a bunch of plates had been smashed and a barstool had been thrown trough a window.  Dunno what happened there.

Hate.  Him.  So.  Much.

Tell me again why I follow sports?

Crawfish Boxes
I know there is another place to discuss the topic that is Ed Wade, but I will say that I'm gonna be pulling for his gambles to pay off.

You gotta admit, the thought of actual run production has got to have you a little geeked.

As for the pitching... well, um.  Ah, fuck it, we're screwed.  Looks like we maybe the NL version of the Rangers... but atleast we'll go down swinging.  Bottoms up.

You Said It
We're the NL Rangers.  I think the 'Stros are going to mash, but it's all for naught without pitching.  Which, after Roy O and before a feisty bullpen, we just don't have.  Methinks it's going to be a frustrating year.

I have my doubts about Ed Wade, but I appreciate that he's strengthened the team; I just don't think there's much he could've done for the pitching.  There's not that much available.

What's that?  Troy who?  Patton what?  Shit.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Draft
For all you people interested in the draft, as I am, I think an interesting later round pick/UFA would be Drew Kelson from Texas who showed he was a playmaker back in '05, but hasn't been used much since.  What do all you other 'Horns fans think?

YES!!
He's my adopted player from BON, so I can proudly vouch for him.  He is superbly athletic in both speed and agility, but was used poorly by the coaches over the years.  He will show everyone at the combine and I expect him to be a mid-rounder.

Kelson
Love me some Drew, but no way I'd burn a draft pick on him (though I agree his measurables will surprise at the combine).  Is he a safety?  Probably, but he never really had the chance to show that he was a legit prospect there.  Linebacker?  Hell no.  I wonder if his lack of opportunities in college will end up damning him to a career outside the NFL.
