I feel bad about slacking off so bad in Planet BRB this week.  Holidays or not, your Houston Texans have a chance to do something they've never done before--win eight (8) games in a season.  Finish without a losing record for the first time in franchise history.  Right the wrongs that were inflicted by the previous regime back in 2004 when the Texans laid an egg the size of Abilene against Cleveland when they had the same chance at .500 they do tomorrow.

You know what would make me feel considerably better about mailing it in this week?  A win.  8-8.  Hope.  And it's coming.  By the way, the usual Injury Report sort of seemed pointless, considering the probability/possibility of the Jags sitting some (many?) of their starters in what is clearly a meaningless game for them.  But back to the topic at hand:  Houston 27, Jacksonville 14.

Sorry I had to dip out of the gameday thread.  Went to a friend's house to watch football while our girls went shopping for their new years eve party tonight.  

The birthday was mad cool.  My girl set up a 'surprise party'.  It was a nice turn out.  We all got lit and played poker.  This is a replica helmet I got from my one of my homeboys. This is me pretending to try it on.  

Now I just need to get it autographed...

I think you can keep both.  Get a feature back (Michael Turner anyone?).  Then run a split back system w/ Back X and Dayne (thunder/lightning sort of shit).  Then keep Walker around for 3rd down, spells, etc.

We have other problems.  I think even two mediocre backs isn't the worst thing.

I love that guy and he's versatile as hell.  I wouldn't mind having him as our FB (along with Abbate?) and running more two back sets.  If he's healthy, he could obviate the need for another RB, at least in the short term.

Got all the Aes Rock I can get off emusic now: Labor Days, Bazooka Tooth, and None Shall Pass.

I don't really like the "indie pop" movement of bands like Arcade Fire and bands like that.  I knew Brit D back in the day, and he's a prick, but Spoon is pretty big these days.  Emusic has some good reviews of the stuff that they offer, so give it a go.  Other stuff I have given a lot of time to (from 2006 and 2007) is Gogol Bordello, Balkan Beat Box, The Gourds always gets a ton of PT from me, Cadillac Jones, and Hold Steady.

Obviously, I listen to a lot of non-mainstream music.

Had a hard time getting quality TV time today, but me and the boy are chilling now.  It looks like I have missed a good one.  Dammit.  And the HTPC is dead, too, so I won't get to watch it later.  Hopefully, somebody will post a torrent later.

I actually think that's a conscious decision not to get someone injured.  We're giving a lot of young guys some reps and I think this is as much evaluation as it is get to .500... especially when it looks like the game is more or less in hand.

New OC and a new DC?
Not that I don't sympathize, but I'm not sure if we want to change both coordinators at once, especially given our 8-8 finish.  (It feels really good to type that)

I think we all agree that Kubiak is the main guy when it comes to OC.  So we'd really only be hiring a new guy to suggest plays now and then on offense.  And Richard Smith shouldn't be allowed to coach High school.

It's a foreign concept, for sure
The thing that kills me is that we won because of Andre fuckin' Davis.  Our passing game was poor and our defense didn't stop anyone.  Now, nothing wrong with winning through special teams, but the 42 points seems really misleading.

Yup.
I have zero doubt that we beat Atlanta with Andre Johnson in there.  If we'd had a running game through most of the first half of the season, there would surely be an extra win in there.  9-7 or 10-6 seems like it was easily within reach.
