Project Disappointment

One could view this study as morbidly depressing, but I prefer to view it from the optimist's perspective - how far the Texans have come, or, how much worse it really could be.  Here's my own 'worst possible all-time Texans' lineup' - feel free to make your own suggestions.  There have been so many forgettable Texans, I'm sure that some have slipped through the cracks thanks to hours of intense drinking and counseling.

QB - Dave Ragone
RB - Tony Hollings, Stacey Mack
FB - Greg Comella
WR - Corey Bradford, Kevin Kasper, Sloan Thomas
TE - Ben Joppru
LT - Victor Riley
LG - Demingo Graham
C - Drew Hodgdon (no offense, Drew - not much to pick from here)
RG - Ryan Schau
RT - Todd Wade

DE - Corey Sears, Jason Babin
DL - Charles Hill, Travis Johnson
LB - Charlie Clemons, Kenneth Pettway, Frank Chamberlain
DB - Phillip Buchanon, Jason Bell
SS - Matt Stevens
FS - Jammal Lord

If someone has a computer simluation engine that can plug this lineup and run it through a 16-game schedule, I'd love to see the results.  Also, if any of our loyal readers would like to submit a "Where are They Now", specifically regarding our personal favoriate all-time Texan, Matt Stevens, please drop us a line.

God, That's Depressing
Think about how many of those guys were third round draft picks or better--Ragone (third rounder), Hollings (supplemental pick that cost us a second rounder), Joppru (second rounder), Wade (second rounder, though not drafted by the Texans; merely signed to outrageous free agent contract), Babin (first rounder), Hill (third rounder), Tr. Johnson (first rounder), and "Showtime" Buchanon (cost us a second rounder and a third rounder; easily the worst move in franchise history).

Charley Casserly may as well have salted the earth on his way out of town.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

a good side
yeah, these guys represent a pretty awesome clusterF by casserly and the gang.  but, you know, this team still won some games, and there is still some decent talent off which to build.

frankly, it reminds me of the early 70s before Bum took over.  The previous regime didn't do anything right, and it left a rotting carcass of a team.  So, you know, maybe we just ended 1973 after a pair of 1-13 seasons, and we have new management that actually knows and understands football.  I mean, a guy can dream, right?

So, who would be the qb for the all-texans team?  james allen or jabar gaffney?  :-)

Possible mistake at QB
I think a strong argument for David Carr at worst QB could be made. My best argument being his (non) effort against the Raiders in which we threw for negative passing yards as a team. He took all the snaps that day, and regardless of the outcome of said game, deserves at least a mention in the pantheon of Texans Toilet-Bowl Team.
I think people should have to earn a Superman tattoo, by getting shot in the chest first. You know, just to make sure.

This is so damn depressing
Seriously, it is.

...unless, of course, you view it in the light that this is a competition with the 31 other NFL franchises out there.  WELL THEN, our "Worst Team Ever" could definitely get their ass kicked by anyone elses "Worst Team Ever"...which makes us like, the WTE Super Bowl champs.  And we accomplished this in only 6 years.  That's got to be some kind of bad-ass record or something.  Why haven't I seen a Sunday special about this on the 4-letter station?

That's right, I said we are the CHAMPS!!

We can be critical of the draft picks, but in the end we always support the new Texan.
