Perfect fit. Make the call, Smithiak. This is EXACTLY the type of addition that the Texans need in their secondary. Darius is a true pro and a very effective player. Maybe getting cut will give him even more incentive to get back at his old team by signing with their #1 rival.

Really? I mean, maybe if he was a FS. But you're excited about possibly acquiring ANOTHER guy who doesn't cover?

Don't get me wrong...he'd be an upgrade over Earl and/or Brown. But how much guaranteed money would he cost?

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Your ability to stop the run...

Would really go up. And let's not forget how much of a hit machine he is in the backfield. You wouldn't put him up against a top tier wide receiver, but he can take care of himself.

As long as he's healthy.

God, seeing him in the Battle Red would make me die a bit inside. I'm already bummed enough that he got cut, but having him stay in the division would be almost too much to take.

I wouldn't worry too much, Chris. I would be shocked if the Texans paid him what he'll likely get elsewhere. The X factor, however, is how bitter Darius is. Does he shun a more lucrative offer for the opportunity to show the Jags how wrong they were twice a year, a la Joe Horn signing with the Falcons? You could answer that far better that we could, so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Darius...

Is a very very religous man. He is very good about keeping what happens on the field and in the front office out of his personal life. He did try to leverage a trade a few years ago, but kept pretty good relations with the team regardless.

I don't see "revenge" as his reason for considering the Texans.

I could seriously see him retiring though, he couldn't pass a physical right now. He's still nursing an injury from last year that kept him out of practice.

Maybe...

I keep going back and forth on this. On the one hand, I think Darius would be a HUGE upgrade over Earl/Brown in the running game. On the other, I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to pay for that upgrade. Color me torn.

Agreed

Obviously, the price tag determines whether or not this deal works to the Texans' advantage. My thought is that he cannot possibly be help but be an upgrade at that position purely from a talent/experience perspective, which makes it a deal that the Texans must pursue.
