Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Matt Schaub Is The 19th Best QB In The NFL!

Or so says Peter King.  Although King doesn't explain each individual's ranking, he did pen this tidbit on The Schaub:

"Mike Vick's understudy will be better this year than Mike Vick. I've got Matt Schaub 19th and Vick 21st. Schaub's gobbling up Gary Kubiak's system this spring and I think he'll be a low-error, efficient player..."

"Low-error" and "efficient" don't exactly pop, but after five years of "high-error," "woefully inefficient," and "Sweet Mariah, what the hell was that?" QB play, we'll gladly take it.

With regard to the rankings in general, it's obviously completely subjective and all a matter of opinion.  Vince Young as the seventh-best NFL quarterback this coming season?  I mean no disrespect to one of the few people in this world with the power to make me openly weep, but...no way.  He's amazing and all, but even Vince can't compensate for the personnel bloodletting that took place in Nashville this offseason.  He's got no one to throw to!  And he's relying on LenDale the Hutt to run the ball effectively!  That's a recipe for disaster, even for the man I affectionately dubbed "Jesus in Cleats" over at H-Town Sports.  Mark my words--VY will still single-handedly lead his squad to victory a few times this season, but The Schaub will have a far more impressive campaign statistically.  Oh, and the Texans will win more games than Bud's team.  Take it to the bank.

Agreed...kinda
I know it's heresy to even think this, but I agree about VY.  I think the titans are setting him up to fail, and it makes me sad.  I hope I'm wrong, though.  I'm still a huge believer in Mario, and though I don't think he'll be able to justify #1, I do think he'll justify #2.  Behind VY, that ain't bad.

As for Schaub, I think he's capable of shooting high up that list.  It may not happen this year, but I don't think he'll be that low on the list next year.

Yeah, I really am optimistic for this year.  Kinda refreshing.

Re: The Falcons
Yeah, I have us beating them as one of our 9 wins.

Of course, I am anything but objective.

That said, I strongly agree with everything you've said here.

VY and Mario
I sure would like for both VY and Mario Kart to have great seasons. They are both incredible athletes and play for teams that I have some kind of rooting interest for (as opposed to my afformentioned total indiffernce for Arizona).
I see Mario definetly with the better chance of playing for a .500 level team this year. The Titans don't have enough talent around "Jesus" to be competitive with the tough AFC. They should be good for 4-6 wins while the Texans probably split with them and win 6-8 games.
I think people should have to earn a Superman tattoo, by getting shot in the chest first. You know, just to make sure.

VY
He's "Jesus", and a proven winner, he'll find a way to make sure the Titans are fighting for a wild card spot.

As unlikely as it seems...
It wouldn't surprise me in the least.
We can be critical of the draft picks, but in the end we always support the new Texan.

Re: VY
After what we've watched Vince do for the better part of a decade here in Houston, no one should ever count him out.  That said, the lack of personnel (to my admittedly untrained eye) surrounding him in Nashville has to be a concern for Tennessee fans.  I wouldn't go so far as to say that VY had more talent on any of those teams he played with at The University than he has now, but I wholeheartedly believe that this season will be the greatest challenge he's ever faced on the football field.

I'm clearly biased here, but I don't know how anyone who looks at the rosters of the four AFC South teams wouldn't say that the Titans' roster clearly has the most question marks after this offseason.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Titans
"...the Texans will win more games than Bud's team.  Take it to the bank."

100% agreed.  All I could hear on 790 in the Spring was all this money the Titans had to build the franchise through free agency.  What the F. happened?  Oh well. Good for us. Best of luck there,  VY.

Our day will come.
