Take THAT, Haters!
Tip of the cap to DGDB&D for beating us to this punch, but guess who's been named the American Football Conference's Defensive Player of the Week? That's right--this guy. Be afraid, Carolina. Be very afraid.

re:
Mario Wasn't Scary at NC State
Maybe
Seriously though, we never got the Thank You note for taking Zoolander and letting you guys have Peppers in'02.
If Mario wasn't scary in college...
College totals
Mario Williams: 126 solo tackles / 25 1/2 sacks / 55 1/2 tackles for loss
Julius Peppers: 128 solo tackles / 30 1/2 sacks / 53 tackles for loss
Oh, and Mario was a year younger during the duration of college because he wasn't redshirted
As for speed, how did they do at the combine?
Mario Williams: 6'7", 294 lbs, 40 time: 4.73 / Bench: 35 times / Vertical: 40 1/2 inches
Julius Peppers: 6'6", 282 lbs, 40 time: 4.74 / Bench: 24 times / Vertical: 36 1/2 inches
Now, I realize that Peppers stepped in and had a better rookie season. But don't you think that could have a little to do with stepping into a team that finished in the top 5 in defensive yardage and top 2 in points? (Yes, I realize Peppers played a role in that defense's success, but he was hardly the only reason.)
Mario, on the other hand, stepped into a unit that finished 26th in yardage and 24th in points.
Damn Statistics
If you ask me, they just get in the way.
