David Carr Was Burned Out

Considering this week's opponent, you knew the David Carr stories were going to ratchet up as Sunday approached.  For example, is Zoolander's "familarity" with the Texans offense going to give his new team an advantage in Sunday's game (for a far funnier discussion of this issue, check out this Diary)?  Knowing that the attention was going to shift to the No. 1 overall pick of the 2002 NFL Draft, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to read this article, which provides the following nugget:

"I had fun down there for five years, (but) let someone else do it," Carr told the Carolina media. "That's exactly how I feel. It was a situation that just got so big. With the draft and everything that happened in the last 15 months, I was happy to get out of there.

"It was something that I enjoyed the first couple years. When we didn't get it done, that last year got pretty tough. I was happy to let it go."

On behalf of Houston fans, allow me to offer our sincere apology.  We're truly sorry that the situation "just got so big," David.  Unreasonable expectations, such as a .500 record within (5) years and/or a QB who is better known for his play than his hair, sure can be a pain.  I mean, where did we get off, asking that the guy who was chosen No. 1 in the entire freaking NFL Draft actually, you know, WORK HARD, LEAD, and PRODUCE?  Who do we think we are?

We're buttholes, that's what.  I mean, it's not like we were incapable of loving you.  As you said, "[you] enjoyed the first couple years."  It wasn't until we viciously turned on you, finally fed up with the whole excuse of "we-are-an-expansion-team," that you stopped enjoying Houston.  Sure, you banked tens of millions of dollars over the five (5) years you were here, but what's that worth?  It's not like the team and their fans paid you a billion dollars or anything.  And hey--if you're not enjoying yourself, playing a FREAKING GAME for a living, it's simply not worth it.  We can't blame you for being "happy to let it go."

Fortunately for you, management finally "let someone else do it."  Hell, he even wears the same number as you.  And while his worth ethic, leadership, and performance have thus far proven to be everything you weren't, we haven't forgotten you, Dave.  Every time we purchase a bottle of mousse, or get a spray tan, or watch an infant or a puppy curl up as if it was still in its mother's womb, we will think of you.  Best of luck on Sunday.

A word of advice--watch what the guy under center wearing the Texans gear does.  That's how a QB is supposed to play.

Wow, that's harsh
How many sacks did he endure in five years? How many games did he miss from injury? Ever been hit by a 300 lb running man? Just asking. It seems he did have some good games for Houston. Was he really that bad? Worse than Harrington?

When your boy Delhomme
goes down, you'll have an idea of what this post was all about.  That said, the fans in Houston were frustrated by Carr, but we wish him well.  On another team.
...and the Cowboys suck.

Re: Sacks
The first question you have to ask is how many of them did he bring upon himself by his steadfast refusal to get rid of the ball or his deer-in-the-headlights reaction to a blitz?  Why was Sage Rosenfels not sacked at a similar rate whenever he was taking snaps?  Why does David get to continue to blame the line when we had a lower sack percentage than Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and Seattle last year?  Etc.
Is it too early to hook Jacoby Jones up with Darcy Maeda?

Re: Harsh?
The suckiness that is David Carr cannot be captured on stat sheets.  It ultimately boils down to a lack of technical knowledge and leadership, two essential traits every QB must have.  Whether it's due to a lack of coaching or a lack of ability is up for discussion; the Panthers obviously thought it was the former, while most Houston fans believe it's the latter.

I hope they consult Carr
If their defense game plans based on Carr's perception of our offense, they'll be playing goal-line defense at mid-field trying to prevent those pesky two-yard posts on 3rd and long. This could work to our advantage.

Wouldn't that be the OC's fault
Remember we suffered through a Dom Capers era too.

Probably not
It's more likely due to the fact that while he may meet the definition of literate, Zoolander cannot read a defense, nor read through progressions.
We can be critical of the draft picks, but in the end we always support the new Texan.

I like this post from DGDB&D
It's both entertaining and educational.  Be sure to watch the video, but try to ignore
Baldinger's weird pinky.

Re: Capers
Suffered?  Wish we "suffered" to a conference championship game.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
