Texans Re-sign Steady Saftey and Project Lineman

The Texans made a few quiet ripples in free agency today, re-signing offensive lineman Brandon Frye and versatile safety C.C. Brown.

Brandon Frye is a raw project.  He's got good size, and my guess is that Coach Gibbs wants to get a better look at this "athletic" lineman to see if he fits in his system.  Frye has played everything from TE to DE on his way to the pros.  Let's see if can get the hang of the ZBS well enough to crack the rotation at guard.

C.C. Brown somehow avoided getting hit by the runaway train that barreled through the defensive backfield last year.  He carries the distinction of being the only defensive back to start every game for the Texans last season.  Brown was slated to start the year at free safety, but was moved to strong safety to fill in for Glenn Earl and posted solid numbers.  He amassed 84 tackles (64 solo), 9 passes defended, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, with 3 fumble recoveries. When you take into account that C.C. is still only 25 and he's been able to make measurable performance strides in his first three years with the Texans, he was definitely worth resigning.

These are the type of moves that go under the radar, but are a big reason why the Texan fan-base is building trust in Rick Smith and Coach Kubiak.
