Are you hungry for some football?

The NFL has decided to whet our appetite for football by releasing the preseason schedules.  Sure, the NFL is going to have its draft later this month, but that's basically the NFL's version of a beer sampling party.  You try this and sample that, and you go home with your six-pack of assorted brews, still hungry.

Enter preseason football.  Now, this isn't the pot roast and potato Sunday dinner; it's a snack.  Preseason is like wandering in the kitchen while your woman is cooking her big Sunday dinner.  You get to stir the pot, sample the sauce, and munch on a raw carrot that hasn't yet made it in with the potatoes.  Basically, it gives you an idea of what the big dinner is gonna taste like, but you just won't know `til you sit down and eat.

This year's schedule offers a few savory morsels.  The first being that we are facing teams that we went 4-0 against last year: Denver, New Orleans, Dallas, and Tampa Bay.  In fact, you could point back to each one of those games as the high points of last year's season.  Remember how jacked you were when we trounced Dallas to win the Governor's Cup?  How vindicating it felt to stick it to Reggie Bush?  What about those monster games Mario had against Tampa, and against Denver on Thursday night?  Now we get to relive some of that magic during this year's preseason.

The tentative schedule has us playing Denver at home on Aug 9th, away at NO on Aug 16th, away at Dallas on Aug 23rd, and finishing up with Tampa Bay at home on Aug 28th.

Of course, the game I'm looking forward to the most is the Dallas game.  Not only is it for Lone Star bragging rights, but being that it's the third game of the preseason, it makes it the most telling of all the preseason games.

Take a look at the schedule and let us know how you think the preseason shapes up.  Until then, I'll be looking forward to that beer sampling party later this month. Cheers!

Sweet
I love that we are playing the CokedUpRapistBastards for the 3rd preseason game.  Just like last year.  And I predict that just like last year, the Texans will dominate even though Romo & his crying quartet will play 1-2 more series than our 1st teamers.
We can be critical of the draft picks, but in the end we always support the new Texan.

Looking back
That was one of those badass Jacoby games.  He had such a outstanding preseason last year... I wonder if he'll be able to dazzle us again?  And if he does, can he continue it during the regular season?
To DE or not to DE... that is the question.

re: JJ
BFD would say yes.  And if you question such things again, he will be happy to kill in the name of his undying love.

Re: JJ
I really worry about the possibility that getting messed up by a punkass punter has caused JJ ongoing mental trauma.

I will learn to properly nest my responses.

Not today, though.

I don't like the cowboys but...
"The Governors Cup" is a joke. It's a pre-season game, end of story. It's nothing to brag about. You don't hear cowboy fans saying "oh man we lost to houston in the pre-season, that sucks." They went to the playoffs (and lost of course) and we didn't. That's all I care about.

Re: Governor's Cup
I put just as much stock into going to the playoffs as you do, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't place any value the Governor's Cup game.  Here's my quick three reasons why:
  1. Who cares what the Cowboys fans may or may have not said.  We beat them.  I don't care if it's at horseshoes - as long as we beat them.
  2. It is a preseason game - but it's game three - making it the most telling of all preseason games.  There is still a good amount of tinkering, but starters typically play into the third quarter.
  3. The Governor's cup is made from the liquified bones of Jesus... or so I've heard.
To DE or not to DE... that is the question.

Cowboys
Hearing we are going to play the Cowboys for game three of the preseason is frick'n awesome!  The fans were humiliated that we beat them last year, judging by what I read in the Dallas Morning News last year. And well, I dislike their arrogant fans as much as their team. Though they tried to  down play the Govenors Cup, had they won it, they'd be rubbing our noses in it.  So now it will be televised nationally, you can bet they will be trying to win, and then talkin it down when they take their beating.  That'll be something to look forward to.
