Xavier Adibi Is The Newest Texan!

Duane Brown can split the moving costs with his former and future teammate.  I freaking love this pick, though I think there are a handful of current Texan linebackers who aren't thrilled that this kid could put them out of work.

I don't want to jinx Adibi, but every quote and story I seem to read remind me of a certain Texan whose name rhymes with "MeDeco."  Am I off my rocker here, or are you as excited as I am?

MeDeco
Still laughing...

Good pick, and it's turning into a very, very fruitful 2nd day at the Draft.

P.S.  My "in the end" for Duane arrived after a few Shiner 97s last night.  It has been instant for every single pick today.

We can be critical of the draft picks, but in the end we always support the new Texan.

I love the focus on defense
The draft for the Texans has recently been focused on the defense.  The two offensive picks this year early are cool, but I love that we add depth and youth to our defense.

I wish we would get a stud bookend to match with Mario, but our new fast defensive backfield could make the pass rush more effective by covering better.  With the inexperience and history (Reeves) though, I would rather have the reverse effect of the pass rush helping the defensive backfield.

But this years defense should be top 15 and easily top 10 in 2009.

Offense is easily top 10 this year, but we need to reverse the turnover trend, and we're all set!

1- DE 3- CB 4- OT 5- CB

re: Bookend
We've been talking on the DGDB&D site about taking a flyer on Tommy Blake in the 6th or 7th.  That would really seal this draft.

Seriously, it is really scaring the shit out of me that Mel absolutely loves our draft.

Not Adibi
He has cooled on Slaton and Adibi, so I think we're ok.

He thought we should take the other Hokie LB, so Adibi will be the next MeDeco!

Mel's Comments
He said Adibi (I like typing that name) plays too stiff... but he has speed.
To DE or not to DE... that is the question.

But the NFL network
really likes the guy.  Charles Davis is in love with him.

That's cool
I'd like to see him push the incumbents for playing time.  With him and Thompson being quick at the position, we should see more LB blizes from the OLB spot.

Two thoughts
One - He's a linebacker to compete w/ Thompson and Bentley.

Two - A potential nickel LB who can get to the QB.

I like the pick in the 4th.   I'd like to believe the pass rush just got better.

To DE or not to DE... that is the question.

Frank Okam
I don't know much about him but I like having another DT to push Travis Johnson further out the door.

Post Up On Main Page
I am now in deep romantic love with Smithiak.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
