I meant to get this posted weeks ago and totally failed to do it. Thankfully, the complete lack of player movement since the draft has served to keep four-week old draft analysis newsworthy.
Joel Thorman devotes a few words to what your Houston Texans did in the 2011 NFL Draft, and where they may go from here. An unnamed voice from BRB chimes in too and could very well cause your head to explode with the brilliance emanating from his remarks.
Fascinating (to me, at least) post on which colleges are the best for preparing college talent for the NFL. Wisconsin is 14th, Arizona is unlisted, and The U is 33rd. Small sample size warning ahead. h/t BurntOrangeNation.com.
(on where Watt will play on the defensive line) "I think he’ll play defensive end, although you saw him in the pass rush situations, you saw him on the highlight film play on the nose and beat the center because he’s a good athlete and if you get him one-on-one, he’s going to give them problems. Just like all our guys, we’re going to try and get him one-on-one as much as we can. I look to him to play at defensive end on first and second downs and maybe go inside on third, but that remains to be seen. When you’ve got (Connor) Barwin and (Mario) Williams outside, if you he can play inside which I think he can, we saw him do that in the pass rush and that was a strong area for him. He’ll fit well."
(on moving inside in certain situations) "That’s fine by me. I’m more than happy to move inside in certain situations. I feel very comfortable playing anywhere along the defensive line. The goal is to sack (Indianapolis QB) Peyton Manning; that’s what everyone around here is saying. That’s my job."
Earlier this morning, I posted my final Houston Texans mock draft over on SB Nation Houston as we prepare for tomorrow's first round of the NFL Draft. Click the link to check it out, feel free to throw your own mock out there for the world to see, and share any links to (good) final mocks as a lot of websites are getting theirs out today. Come tomorrow, we'll all be able to laugh at how wrong we were.
So, if our MO holds true, we won't be drafting him. Anyway, thought we could use a little rumor-mongering today. Here are a couple of scouting reports on him.
Get. Help. #TEaddiction RT @evansilva: UNC TE Ryan Taylor will visit #Texans ..next week... Tar Heels' special teams captain in 2008 & 2010.

At the end of the day, visits are a tricky thing to judge as some teams will bluff 100% of the time while others don't hide their interest at all. Big Ron re-tweeted a message about a North Carolina prospect who will visit with our beloved Texans next week. Frankly, his message speaks for itself so well that I thought I'd share it here as we wait for the 13th pick in our mock draft. On a serious level, you'll notice one of the franchise's favorite characteristics: former team captain. No deviating from the plan at all it seems.
While we power through the BRB Community Mock Draft, I went ahead and took a crack at a full Houston Texans mock (through Rick Smith-tinted glasses) over at SBN Houston.
Need more incentive to go take a look? The first round pick may will surprise you.
As some of us debated last year with Dez Bryant...do you take Julio Jones at No. 11, even though there are so many more pressing needs for the Texans?
