"We are thrilled to have solidified our offensive line with this extension for Duane. We believe Duane is an outstanding young left tackle who has the determination, commitment and ability to develop into one of the NFL’s top performers. It’s also an exciting day for our organization. We’ve laid the foundation for sustained success and this is an important step in building on that and toward a championship."
Texans reach contract agreement with Duane Brown.— Mark Berman (@MarkBermanFox26) August 16, 2012
Nick Scurfield tweeted it's not official, so there's a little disagreement here. However, Mark Berman is a darn good source. No details yet on the contract. Regardless, tying up Brown long term is a fantastic move by the Texans' front office. Brown, who was a surprise pick in 2008 after the Texans traded down, has gone from the worst left tackle in the league to one of the best. Brown is just 27 years old and is entering his prime years. Update: Deal is 6 years, $53.4MM, with $22.08MM guaranteed. An absolutely fantastic deal for both the team and Duane. Nicely done.
