DeMeco Ryans is done for the year. He tore his Achilles.— Houston Texans (@HoustonTexans) October 17, 2010
The Mothership making it official after today's 35-31 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Ryans suffered an Achilles injury right before halftime when he attempted to deflect a pass in the red zone. Losing the Captain will hurt, but the defense has other, more pressing, problems to address.
WR Jacoby Jones (calf) practiced today and is expected to play on Sunday vs KC— Nick Scurfield (@NickScurfield) October 15, 2010
If you were worried about David Anderson returning punts or the overall depth of the wide receiver corps, then you'll find this to be good news.
Per Nick Scurfield, Jacoby Jones is expected to return Sunday against the Chiefs. Jones missed last week's disaster and had not practiced Wednesday or Thursday due to a calf injury.
We would be set if Gary Kubiak would
smarten up and have him return kickoffs.
DE Connor Barwin is out for the year with a fractured right ankle. He was injured when teammate Antonio Smith crashed into him.— John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) September 12, 2010
I'm not surprised (which is why I'm linking this), but don't let this ruin a good Sunday. It's a fractured or dislocated ankle for the young Barwin. Best wishes to Connor in all his rehab. I'll end with one thing... Are you there, Aaron Schobel? It's me, TDC.
Nice comeback story: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said TE Owen Daniels will start Sunday's game versus Indianapolis.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 10, 2010
This news isn't that surprising. However, we should take it as confirmation that Owen has looked good in practice. On a related note, Daniels had a snap count of 15-20 for Sunday's game when he was initially cleared. Earlier this week, Kubiak said it was 20-25. Now? He'll see how Daniels feels throughout the game to determine his playing time. As we head towards Sunday's opener, I'll take any and all good signs the team offers.
