Keenan McCardell Comes Home?

The pride of Waltrip High School could be making his triumphant return to the city that spawned him.  He's in town to visit the Texans today, though there's no word on the level of interest on either side yet.

McCardell posted sub-Mouldsian numbers last season (at least in terms of receptions; his YPC were significantly higher than the Texans ex-No. 2), but he's only a year removed from 70 receptions and 9 TD.  While the big drop in production should undoubtedly lead observers to wonder how much he's got left in the tank, the paucity of proven wideouts on the roster damn near demands that the Texans refuse to let him leave Reliant Park without signing a contract.  He's not going to demand Dre money.  Hell, he might not even require Kevin Walter money for the opportunity to play at home.  At the very least, it's worth a long, hard look.  I for one would feel markedly better about the prospects of Dre dealing with less than quadruple coverage a few times each game if McCardell was on the roster.
