Nick Ferguson To Visit Reliant Park

According to McClain, Smithiak is hosting free agent safety Nick Ferguson in Houston today.  I'll give you three (3) guesses where he played last year, and the first two (2) don't count.

If Ferguson does in fact sign with the Texans, it would appear that it'd likely be for a back-up job in the secondary.  While he started seven (7) games last year, he hasn't started 16 games since 2005, which is also when he (1) picked off five passes; (2) defended eight passes; and (3) was not 33 years old.  If anyone has any other observations on Ferguson or the fact that I fully expect Reliant Stadium to be re-christened "5,280 Feet Vertical Field" by the opening of the 2010 season, please enlighten us in the Comments below.

Update [2008-3-27 17:20:58 by Tim]: The Denver Post is reporting that Ferguson inked a one-year deal with your Houston Texans (hat tip to our buddies at Mile High Report). Seems like he and Rick Smith go back a ways; the fact that Smith liked him enough to bring him to Houston makes me less skeptical of the deal, though I think we can hold off on printing those Ferguson Pro Bowl jerseys for now.
