With Trindon Holliday being asked to clean out his locker at Reliant Park, the question turned to who would be returning kicks and/or punts for your Houston Texans. As I thought when the preseason started, I would have guessed Justin Forsett would handle kick returns and Keshawn Martin would handle punt returns. I am not great at guessing, says Nick Scurfield:
Kubiak: Rookie WR Keshawn Martin replaces Trindon Holliday on kickoff & punt returns. Danieal Manning an option #Texans
I'm a bit surprised Kubes is going with Martin as his primary kick returner. I understand wanting to keep Danieal Manning off of special teams, but Forsett? Perchance this is a temporary measure until Ben Tate gets healthy; the same reason for wanting to limit the amount of abuse Manning takes could conceivably extend to Forsett as long as he's RB2 to Arian Foster.
Of course, if Keshawn Martin takes this opportunity and runs with it (you see what I did there), the concern becomes moot. It also becomes moot if the special teams surrounding K-Mart don't show marked improvement.
How are you feeling about Keshawn Martin, returner extraordinaire?
