The good people at Comcast are sponsoring yet another weekly feature across the SB Nation NFL sites. What is it, you ask? Why, it's a live chat! For now (and perhaps for the duration of this feature), we'll be conducting it via the Comments to a specific post on BRB. We may change the format to video via a Google Hangout, but we'll see how things go.
The maiden voyage of this feature will set sail at 9 p.m. CDT on Friday (October 5th) night and run until 9:30 p.m. CDT (perhaps a bit later, depending on how the chat's going). I chose that specific time because I assume that each and every one of you are exactly like me, which is to say a parenting icon not really free to do much until you put your kid(s) to bed. I suppose I could have tried doing the live chat with my son running around, but my answers would almost surely deteriorate into me live-blogging Baby Animal ABCs (e.g., "A is for alligator. The alligator has leathery skin.") or complete gibberish from untamed toddler distal phalanges attacking my keyboard. Furthermore, like me, you'll want to have a drink or five in your system before you engage in LIVECHATAPALOOZA, and a 9 p.m. CDT start allows you (me) ample time to do that.
In the unlikely event that you're free to do what you want on Friday night, two things: (1) I remember those times fondly; and (2) you can do what you do and participate in/follow the chat from your mobile browser while presumably at a bar or doing whatever it is cool people do these days. Back in my day, it was bars and copious amounts of whiskey. It may be something else now. I don't know. I don't get out much.
Every week after this, our plan is for the chat to occur at 9 p.m. CDT on Wednesday nights. That won't happen this week due to Battle Red Radio taking place then instead of its usual Tuesday night spot, so it's Friday night this week.
In terms of what exactly we'll be doing, it's simple. I'll get a post up shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday, and then we'll start chatting in the comments. You ask questions about the Texans, I give answers, we swap recipes, we share our boldest dreams and our deepest fears, whatever. Easy peasy.
MDC has kindly volunteered to help me in this endeavor, though I don't know if he'll be available for the inaugural edition on Friday night. He may have a rave or a tractor pull to attend. I imagine he'll speak up in the Comments below. I'd ask you to do the same to let me know if this is something that interests you going forward (both Friday night and the Wednesday nights after that). If not, I suppose you'll all just be treated to a stirring internal monologue about Amobi Okoye.
See you guys and gals in the comments on Friday night. It'll be rad.
