Although the 2012 NFL Draft is still six weeks away, it's never too soon to talk about what you'll be doing for the occasion. Several people have asked whether there will be a BRB event for the draft. The answer is: Depends. Elaboration after the jump.
With the NFL's move to prime-time for the draft (I still hate it, even though it was a no-brainer from a business perspective), we've got three possibilities for BRBAPALOOZA if we're going to do it:
1. Thursday Night--barring any trades up or down, your Houston Texans currently pick 26th in the first round, which likely means that their first pick won't be made until after 10 p.m. CDT on Thursday night. That's a bit of a drag for those of us who have to go to work on Friday morning.
2. Friday Night--if we're going to do a draft event, this could well be the best solution. There's not as much time in between picks, so in theory, the night would move faster, and you'd get to see your Houston Texans make their second and third round choices (again, barring trades). In theory, it would also allow out-of-towners to join us, even though it might mean those people have to take a half-day to make sure they're in place when the festivities start (usually around 5:30 or 6 p.m. CDT, if memory serves). Best of all, many of us wouldn't have to suffer through work the following day.
3. Saturday--while some of us would embrace the idea of watching the fourth through seventh rounds with fellow BRBers, I can understand why many folks wouldn't. Again, it's appealing for those of us who work Monday-Friday and for anyone who would be coming in from out of town, but there's simply not the same amount of excitement for most about the later round picks as there is for the earlier picks.
Or maybe you already have other draft plans, in which case you have no interest in attending BRBAPALOOZA for the 2012 NFL Draft. Let us know what you think in the poll below.
