With The Twenty-First Pick Of The 2012 BRB Mock Draft, The Cincinnati Bengals Select...

Titans fan turned Bengals fake-GM Deaconbrodie checks in with his second first round pick. I suppose there's a chance the Bengals could spin this pick to the Raiders for Oakland's first round picks from 2015-2025, but that possibility has to be no more than 22%, tops (down from 87% before Al Davis shuffled off this mortal coil).

As the poet laureate Everlast once opined, I came to get down, I came to get down, so get out your seats and jump around...lest we be forced to serve your derriere like John McEnroe.

Well, this lazy Bengals GM was pretty distraught to see Cordy Glenn get drafted at 19. The Bengals were hoping he would be there at 21 to fill a big need at guard. Now they will have to meet that need later in the draft because there is no value at guard with the 21st pick. Other areas of need are WR, DL and S. Heck, they could even take another CB.

The Bengals need a second option next to A.J. Green. Andre Caldwell left in free agency, Jerome Simpson may go to jail, and they failed to pick up another WR in free agency. If they don’t want Green to be triple-teamed they need to get a viable WR2. They could go Kendall Wright or Alshon Jeffrey here, and I was tempted to do it just to see what you Texans folks would do with your pick, especially considering the Titans' GM took Stephen Hill. : ) But I think there is greater talent still on the board.

They could also go D-line. The Bengals lost DEs Rucker and Fanene in free agency and replaced them with two former first rounders--Derrick Harvey and Jamaal Anderson. The Bengals have good depth at DL, but if those two guys don’t pan out, their DL may be in trouble. Whitney Mercilus and Michael Brockers are definitely tempting.

In the end, I think they will go with another big need in their secondary. Their safety position is a perennial problem. After the team released veteran Chris Crocker, the Bengals have three safeties signed for the 2012 season, including starting free safety Reggie Nelson.

For that reason, the #21 selection for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2012 BRB Mock Draft is Mark Barron (SS--Alabama).

They pair him up with teammate Dre Kirkpatrick and shore up their secondary for years to come. And at 21, Barron was a great value. He is gaining a lot of traction on all the big boards. The Bengals will be looking for OG, RB and WR in the next several rounds.

Hmmmmm....curious selection. I'd probably be a bigger fan of the pick if Barron hailed from Katy, Texas, but it's not his fault he's not perfect. This is where I would say the Browns are on the clock, but WreckNTexan already e-mailed me his pick, so everyone just hold your water until 10 a.m. CDT tomorrow.
