In the wake of the news that your Houston Texans signed Bradie James comes word the Texans also re-signed Tim Dobbins this afternoon. I'm not very good at math, but by my count, that means the Texans have ensured that two (2) more veteran inside linebackers will be in camp come July. Considering the loss of DeMeco Ryans and the fact that Darryl Sharpton is returning from a season-ending injury, I'm not sure how these developments could be classified as anything but sound.
Both James and Dobbins are veterans of the Wade Phillips scheme, and Dobbins is also a proven contributor on special teams. Although neither of these are the kind of signings that will send fans scrambling to the ticket office, they are the kind of quiet, solid moves good teams make.
