The 2012 NFL Draft On Battle Red Blog

How will we be covering it, you ask? Or maybe you're not asking, in which case I AM TELLING YOU. Our tentative draft plan and schedule is after the jump.

THURSDAY

8 a.m. CDT: We'll post a thread to count down to the 2012 NFL Draft. The idea is for everyone to converse, speculate, and prepare for what is sure to be an eventful first round. Depending on how heavy the commenting gets, there could be another thread or three as the day progresses.

6:45 p.m. CDT: The first official open thread for the 2012 NFL Draft will post. This will be the place for you to share your hopes, dreams, and snide observations as the first round unfolds. Seeing as how your Houston Texans will not go on the clock for a few hours (barring a trade up!), we'll probably have multiple open threads as the commenting picks up steam.

Time TBD: As soon as your Houston Texans make their first move of the 2012 NFL Draft, be it trade, pick, or whatever, we'll have a post up so everyone can share their reaction to whatever has happened. It'll look something like this. But with more comments, as people I am not related to read the site now.

Time TBD: After the reaction post, we'll get a more detailed post up that will examine the newest Texan in greater detail. It'll look something like this.

Your Thursday evening crew, as of right now, will be comprised of yours truly, TDC, and MDC. While the rest of the staff will surely be around to engage in clever banter about tight ends in the comments, those two brave souls, with an assist from my cowardly visage, will be in charge of keeping things between the lines.

FRIDAY

8 a.m. CDT: We'll post a thread to count down to the second and third rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft. It'll be a fine place to wax poetic about what the Texans did the night before and what you hope they'll do that night. Depending on how heavy the commenting gets, there could be another thread or three as the day progresses.

5:45 p.m. CDT: The first official open thread for the second and third rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft will post. Of course, everyone within a 250 mile radius of Houston will be at BRBAPALOOZA, so many comments will be made from mobile devices, I'm sure. Seeing as how everyone will only become more knowledgeable and opinionated as the night progresses and the beer flows like wine, we'll probably have multiple open threads.

Time TBD: As soon as your Houston Texans make their first move of the night, be it trade, pick, or whatever, we'll have a post up so everyone can share their reaction to whatever has happened. This will happen for each pick, so as of now, you can expect a reaction post for the second and third round.

Time TBD: After the reaction post, we'll get a more detailed post up that will examine the newest Texan in greater detail. Again, this will happen for each pick, so as of now, you can expect a quasi-detailed analysis of the Texans forged in the second and third round.

Your Friday night crew, as of right now, will be Vega and Uprooted Texan. The majority of the rest of us (e.g., Rivers, MDC, and BFD, allegedly) will be at BRBAPALOOZA. At least until curfew, anyway.

SATURDAY

8 a.m. CDT: We'll post a thread to count down to the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. It'll be a fine place to share analysis about what the Texans have done in the first three rounds and what you hope they'll do that day. Depending on how heavy the commenting gets, there could be another thread before the actual open thread for the draft posts.

10:45 a.m. CDT: The first official open thread for the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft will post. This will be the place for you to commiserate with the rest of us draft junkies who refuse to tune out even after the "exciting rounds" are done. Assuming we don't lose too many men at BRBAPALOOZA the night before, we'll probably have multiple open threads as the day unfolds.

Time TBD: When your Houston Texans make their first move of the day, be it trade, pick, or whatever, we'll have a post up so everyone can share their reaction to whatever has happened. This will happen for each pick, so as of now, you can expect a reaction post twice in the fourth round and then in the fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds.

Time TBD: After the reaction post, we'll get a more detailed post up that will examine the newest Texan in greater detail. Again, this will happen for each pick, so as of now, you can expect a quasi-detailed analysis of the multiple Texans created in the fourth through seventh rounds.

Your Saturday posse, as of right now, will consist of TDC and Uprooted Texan, with sporadic contributions from Rivers and BFD. Nary a Simpsons joke will be found, I'm sure.
