2012 NFL Draft: Counting Down To Round One

The best first round pick in franchise history. UNTIL TONIGHT, that is.
The best first round pick in franchise history. UNTIL TONIGHT, that is.

As promised, this is your countdown thread for Day One of the 2012 NFL Draft. If need be, we'll get additional threads up as the day continues, and the first official BRB open thread for the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft will post promptly at 6:45 p.m. CDT (the draft officially starts at 7 p.m. CDT).

Is it insanely myopic of me to say that I have less of a clue what your Houston Texans will do with their first-round pick this year than perhaps any other year? Seems like there are so many legitimate options for them at No. 26. Granted, many of those options will disappear as the draft proceeds, but I am having a hard time getting any sort of feel for what will happen when the Texans go on the clock.

Not having any idea what I'm talking about hasn't stopped me before, and I'm not about to let it stop me now. After the jump, I throw a name against the wall and memorialize my worthlessness by guessing projecting what your Houston Texans will do with the twenty-sixth pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

While I'm sure Smithiak would love to pick up an asset or two and trade down, I'm having trouble pointing to a prospect who'll be available at 26 that a team will be in love with enough to move up for. Thus, I think the Texans will stay put, and their pick will be...Whitney Mercilus.

Mock my mocking, share your guess as to who the newest Texan will be, and/or simply talk NFL Draft in the Comments. We're in the home stretch now.
