Mark Berman reports (as BFD FanShot'd) that Jacoby Jones is a Texan no more. The move itself is not surprising at all, though many fans thought it would/should have happened much earlier, and some thought it might happen after the Texans had a chance to actually see what they had in their newest draftees. Regardless, the writing has been on the proverbial wall for months. More, including a few words from Jakespeare's agent, after the jump.
"You always want to finish what you start, " said Kennard McGuire, Jones' agent, in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "I know that's how Jacoby feels. Having the opportunity to finish what you start, but we also know in this profession and this business sometimes things don't always work out as planned.
"He's appreciative and thankful to the organization for the opportunity that was presented to him. Also thankful for them that they're going to put him in a position to have a change of scenery and continue to play in the National Football League.
"We've been preparing for this for a period now, obviously with the idea that there were trade talks around. So we've been preparing for this, but once again preparing and having reality are two different things."
There's no doubt in my mind that another team will give Jacoby a shot. There's also very little doubt in my mind that the switch will suddenly come on for him to the extent this move will ever haunt the Texans. This is a move that helps both parties, and I don't think you'll find a single Texans fan broken up over seeing Jacoby pack his bags. Nevertheless, best of luck to Jacoby Jones in his future endeavors.
