Moran Norris and Keith Browner, Jr. must have shown Smithiak something during their minicamp tryout, because both gentlemen are now officially Houston Texans.
At first glance, Norris would seem to have an easier path to making the final roster. The only fullback on the roster right now is James Casey, and Kubiak has shown an affinity for keeping a more traditional fullback on the roster during his time in Houston. Then again, Norris isn't exactly coming off a gangbusters campaign in San Francisco, as PFT reports that he lost his job to "unproven" Bruce Miller last year. You'll note that I'm not mentioning Norris' previous run in Houston as a factor in the analysis; his four years as a Texan were under the Capersly regime, which probably counts as more of a negative than a positive for him.
With all the numbers and talent at LB, Browning has his work cut out for him. Odds are that he's little more than a camp body. Then again, PEOPLE ONCE SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT ARIAN FOSTER.
