Announcing The Winners Of The BBRB Jersey Contest

Back in early July, we announced a jersey giveaway contest here on BRB based entirely on the generosity of Barryfromtexas. The general idea was that Barry decided to give away three (3) Texans jerseys--Brian Cushing, Arian Foster, and Andre Johnson--to the three (3) BRBers who came closest to accurately predicting the Texans' initial 53-man roster.

This would have been a challenge regardless, but Rashad Butler's season-ending injury in the final preseason game, coupled with a totally unexpected move by the Texans on Friday (e.g., Sherrick McManis getting traded for Tyler Clutts), meant that there was no chance anyone would get all 53 players right. To compound the confusion, Shelley Smith initially made the Texans' 53-man roster, only to be cut a day later. That may not have seemed like a big deal at the time, but it made all the difference in determining who won this contest.

Because Shelley Smith survived the initial cut down to 53, including him on your entry was a correct guess. It didn't matter that he got cut the next day; he made the team. Although he may never qualify as a difference-maker in the NFL, Shelley Smith was the difference-maker in Barry's contest.

The contest winner accurately predicted 49 of the 53 players on the Texans' initial roster (including Shelley Smith). For that, bhsman should keep an eye out for an Arian Foster jersey coming his way from Barry.

Finishing in second place by correctly predicting 48 of the 53 players (again, including Shelley Smith) on the Texans' initial roster was FreeRange. Barry will be mailing him a Brian Cushing jersey.

Our final contest winner also nailed 48 of the 53 players on Houston's first 53-man roster of the 2012 season. He got his entry in three days later than FreeRange, however, so he lost the tiebreaker. Thus, theSpaceCityKid has an Andre Johnson jersey en route to his home from Barry.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to submit an entry, and even bigger gratitude to Barry for coming up with this idea and providing the loot.
