The New Year has the same slightly disappointing feeling to start with as the Houston Texans announced they had placed inside linebacker Darryl Sharpton on injured reserve as they prepare for their upcoming Wild Card match-up with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Sharpton, per the team's Twitter account, has a hip injury. No word yet on if this hip injury is similar to the one Sharpton suffered in August that set him back from his rehabilitation on his torn quadriceps injury that ended his 2011 season. Needless to say, 2012 has been a forgettable one for Mr. Sharpton and the Texans' linebacking corps.
To take Sharpton's spot, the Texans re-signed Mister Alexander. Alexander was waived in October when the Texans decided to bolster the running back position. Alexander and Barrett Ruud now back-up Bradie James and Tim Dobbins at inside linebacker. I imagine this position will get overhauled this offseason. As for now, thoughts on the return of Mr. Mister?
