This morning, word got out that the Bears will interview current Houston Texans offensive coordinator Rick Dennison for their head coaching vacancy. Texans fans might recall that Dennison pursued Denver's head coaching gig about this time two years ago, only to see the Broncos go with John Fox.
In the article linked above, Adam Schefter states that the Bears have already interviewed eight candidates and have told those gentlemen that they'll pare the list down to two this week. Dennison, along with Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and Marc Trestmen (currently coaching in the CFL but a renowned QB whisperer in his own right) will supposedly be interviewed before that decision is made.
I'd be surprised if Dennison emerged as one of the finalists in this search. While the Bears are said to want an offensive-minded head coach to replace Lovie Smith, is being an offensive coordinator in name only the ideal training ground for a head coaching gig?
