I am not going to pretend to like Bud Adams, but I cannot deny that the man is an important figure in Houston Sports history. Adams was one of the founders of the American Football League and was a truly influential force in professional football (for better or worse) for decades. The Houston Oilers won two AFL titles under Adams' ownership - two of the far too few championships that this city has ever been able to enjoy - and came painfully close to earning an elusive Super Bowl ring in the Luv Ya Blue days of Bum Phillips, whom we also lost this week.
I like to think that Bum and Bud are hugging it out in Heaven right now on behalf of all of us. Lord knows Houstonians need that kind closure during yet another disappointing season.
We here at BRB understand that some of your feelings and emotions might be a bit "sour" towards Mr. Adams, but we do ask that you keep comments section respectful. At the end of the day, a family has lost a father and grandfather today. That deserves some courtesy.
