Houston Texans Release Tim Dobbins

The Texans keep busy with the roster adjustments during their bye week. This time, it's reserve inside linebacker Tim Dobbins who is let go from the team.

Dobbins did have some big moments in the win over the Bears last year.

From the Twitter account of Tim Dobbins' agent:

After signing a one-year deal to remain with the Texans in April, Dobbins made headlines when he skipped OTAs to work on his house. Canter, the aforementioned agent, assured everyone that Dobbins' absence was a non-story, as OTAs are "[an] owner/ coach conspiracy" and "completely useless" to most veterans. For his part, Dobbins said he'd "do it all the same way" when he reported to mini-camp in June.

Dobbins was inactive for three (3) of the Texans' first seven games this season. Given the team's alarming lack of depth at inside linebacker, especially in the wake of Brian Cushing's season-ending injury, the timing of Dobbins' release is surprising. Time will tell if the Texans' rationale for jettisoning Dobbins manages to make its way to the public.

Best of luck to Dobbins as he looks to continue his career elsewhere.
