To all of those who will talk in the comments about how the Houston Texans need to give T.J. Yates or Case Keenum a shot, I'll say why bother? At this rate, head coach Gary Kubiak and quarterback Matt Schaub, along with countless numbers of others, will not be part of this franchise next year. Without Kubiak's offense, would they even work in someone else's offense? We all know a new coach always brings in their own quarterback anyhow. Truly think about that for a moment.
Even if Kubiak does return, with a Bob McNair mandate to replace Schaub, the next starting quarterback of your Houston Texans is not on the roster. He's playing college football and has a date with destiny with the Texans pick in the first round next year.
Now that the rant's out of the way, your Houston Texans played football tonight. Rather, that's what some people say. I saw a team that was little more than a speed bump for the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers. For those that care for a score, it was 34-3, but the game was more lopsided than that. Comedy of errors is a pretty apt summary since it's nearly 10:30. I mean, I wouldn't want to invest more time into writing than Houston put into preparing. That would be silly.
Honestly, what else can be said after the past three weeks? This team is lucky it isn't 0-5 right now. It's as simple as that. I'd love to be proven wrong with a long championship run, but after five games they are who they are. The 2013 Houston Texans are a team that is frustratingly inconsistent and makes far too many self-inflicted mistakes to do anything but battlefight their way to 8-8.
