ESPN New York is reporting that Ed Reed has signed with the New York Jets:
Safety Ed Reed and the New York Jets reached an agreement Thursday on a contract after the nine-time Pro Bowler cleared waivers Wednesday afternoon after his release by the Houston Texans.
The team announced that Reed is expected to practice with the team Thursday.
Reed once played for Jets coach Rex Ryan when Ryan served as a defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens (2002-08). Ryan once called Reed "the best safety that's ever played."
During his brief time in Houston, Reed looked nothing like the Hall of Famer he surely is. His release on Tuesday was not met with any sadness by Texans fans; if anything, the general reaction was more bitter resignation and acknowledgement that it was the right move (and realization for anyone who hadn't had it yet that signing him over Glover Quin was a colossal mistake on the part of the Texans).
Good luck to Ed Reed as he continues his career in New Jersey. Make sure to check out Gang Green Nation to see what Jets fans have to say about their newest acquisition.
