John McClain reports:

Could this be the end for the Texans' 2012 fifth round draft pick? Randy Bullock missed three out of four field goals in last night's loss to the Colts, including a 55 yard attempt as time expired that would have sent the game into overtime. On the year, Bullock has only hit 13 field goals on 21 attempts.

His longest successful FG of the season is only 48 yards; that was in the previous game on the road against the Chiefs, where he was 3 for 3 kicking field goals. His inconsistency is a risk an NFL team can't tolerate, especially under favorable weather conditions like those that almost always exist at Reliant Stadium. Bullock's kickoffs have been decent, with 16 of 33 going for touchbacks. Unfortunately, the others were returnable against a Texans' coverage unit that nearly always ensures great field position for the opponent. 17 of Bullock's kicks were returned for an average of 27.2 yards. Bullock's stats for the year are below.

Is it too soon to cut Bullock? After all, the next eight games might just be best used for evaluation of the roster for 2014.
