Battle Red Blazin' Hot NFL PIcks: Week 17 - The Season Finale

With some exciting matchups still on the books, Battle Red Blog finishes its weekly series of NFL picks. Brought to you by Buffalo Wild Wings.

A few fisticuffs and donnybrooks would make this upcoming Texans game much more interesting.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has participated this year and stayed active with us every week. It's been a lot of fun, and hopefully the powers that be let me do it again next season.

In true Indy style, the Colts played up to their competition and beat Chiefs in Kansas City, quite handily helping me overcome the upsets I didn't foresee, like Arizona over Seattle. Speaking of which, Seattle plays St. Louis in a game that carries a ton of playoff implications. With a loss, the current top seed could fall all the way down to five. Carolina, New Orleans, Arizona and San Francisco will all be keeping an eye on them. With so much on the line, it's a bit of a nightmare trying to expect the unexpected. Who wants it more? Perhaps I'm overthinking... maybe I'll let my dog make the picks next year.

Here are the standings coming into Week 17!

Rank Pick Set Name Total Dropped W-L
1 Eggshellman 152 0 152-71
2 goomba 148 5 148-78
3 erikhayden 147 6 147-79
4 DO 143 5 143-83
5 oiler-texan diehard 143 6 143-83
6 Corzo 142 6 142-84
7 FreedomRide 142 5 142-83
8 parahax 142 5 142-83
9 Just Winz 141 7 141-85
10 bruinballer 141 0 141-82
11 XRoadie 141 5 141-82
12 Gunning for Corzo 139 6 139-84
13 Capt Ron 138 6 138-87
14 OneManBlitz 138 6 138-88
15 mefjr 138 5 138-87

Now onward to the picks!

Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans

To their credit, the team has never shown signs of giving up, or half-assing it (except perhaps Brooks Reed), but the talent and coaching staff has been lacking. Sigh... what might have been?

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts

New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants

Redskins won't win this one either... making a loss at Tennessee critical for the top overall pick in 2014.

Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

Even with Peyton sitting this one out, possibly, the Broncos have enough firepower to beat the hapless Raiders.

Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

Surprise! Two stout defense clash against two inconsistent offenses. I think Arizona's defense has a bit more upside and has whatever advantage University of Phoenix Stadium offers.

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers

St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys

Hey, Romo haters... you can't laugh at the Cowboys for employing Tony Romo, and then laugh at them when he gets injured. You can't have it both ways.

That's it for this week and the season! Thanks for playing, dudes and dudettes. I'll make one more post recapping the final standings next week. Happy New Year!
