2013 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: Houston Texans Select NT Brandon Williams

Oh look, a nose tackle! How depressingly unrealistic. The Texans make their second round pick in the 2013 SB Nation NFL Mock Draft.

I'll admit that due to a snafu in my understanding of time zones, Mocking The Draft's Dan Kadar had to submit this pick for us.

That being said, Kadar also knows my most coveted players forwards and backwards due to my repeated posting of them on Mocking the Draft, and I trusted him to make the right pick. Missouri Southern's Brandon Williams, for those of you who have been under a rock for the last two months, is one of my favorite prospects in this draft class and in all honesty was one of the players that the BRB staff was discussing picking anyway. Full disclosure, it was between Williams, Kevin Reddick, Sean Porter, and Tyler Wilson.

As a powerful interior force, Williams is very Vince Wilfork-ish when stacking and shedding against the run while also possessing surprising quickness when penetrating gaps into the backfield. The much maligned interior run defense would instantly be improved. The addition of Brandon Williams would allow defensive coordinator Wade Phillips to employ a smaller, rangier, more coverage-oriented linebacker next to Brian Cushing who can fly to the ball untouched and run with tight ends down the field while Williams ties up multiple offensive linemen with his sheer size and power.

At the end of the day, your friendly neighborhood Texans writers came out with DeAndre Hopkins on offense and Brandon Williams on defense in the SB Nation Bloggers' Mock Draft. I could definitely live with that were it to become a reality next week. What say you, BRB faithful?
