Voting ended on the 17th for the latest round of the Madden 25 cover vote, and after over 500,000 votes were cast, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has moved on to face Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders in the Old School versus New School round.
It wasn't close for poor Houston Texans running back Arian Foster, who managed to secure only 36% of the vote against the juggernaut Peterson. Foster was gracious in defeat and took to Facebook to thank everyone who voted for AND against him:
Congrats to AP and Barrie Sanders! Thank you all for your support whether it was for the cover or to prevent the curse - it is appreciated.

On the other side, it was a much closer battle between Sanders and San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice. Sanders snagged 52% of the vote against Rice. Earlier in the contest, Sanders did a live chat with fans here. He seems genuinely excited to possibly win the cover of the 25th anniversary Madden and also spoke very highly of his current competition Adrian Peterson, calling him, "one of the top-five players in all of the NFL."
So how do you feel Texans fans? A lot of you vowed to vote for Peterson to keep Foster off the cover, so I'm sure you're relieved, you bunch of jerks. Where will your vote go now?
The electric, timeless legend Barry Sanders?
Or the physical phenomenon Adrian Peterson?
I'm leaning towards Barry Sanders. To help sway your vote, check out Barry Sanders in A Football Life. It's fantastic. Hopefully, this running back showdown will inspire EA Sports developers to give some love to the ground game in the upcoming Madden. Sound off in the comments!
