2013 NFL Draft: Andre Johnson Has "Asked For [Wide Receiver Help] For Awhile"

When the greatest player in franchise history speaks, you listen. Or Texans fans hope so, anyway, with the 2013 NFL Draft beginning on Thursday. Andre Johnson also visited with the media about the transition from college to the NFL, the Texans' schedule, how long he expects to play, and Ed Reed.

Praise him, Rick.

Texans fans have been clamoring for the team to address wide receiver in the 2013 NFL Draft. "As amazing as he is, Andre Johnson can't do it alone," fans said. Good news...it would seem 'Dre agrees, as evidenced by his comments at the football camp he hosts each year (this year with Johnathan Joseph).

“I’d like to have another (receiver),” Johnson said Saturday at his annual football camp for kids. “I’m all for it. I’ve asked for it for awhile. The more weapons we have, the better it’ll be for the team.”

'Dre also spoke about the learning curve for WRs in the NFL, the Texans' opening their season on Monday Night Football, and perhaps most interestingly to Texans fans, how much longer he expects to play.

“I think there’s a big window for the organization, but Andre Johnson’s window is not very big,” he said. “When I came into this league, my goal was to play 10 years. Now I want to play five more.

Oh, and what Ed Reed, his buddy and new Texan, thinks about the Texans' schedule, including but not limited to Reed's homecoming in Baltimore:

“He talked about the Baltimore game. I’m not going to say what he said, other than, ‘We’re going to go up there and kick their you know what.’
