2013 BRB Mock Draft: With The Fourteenth Overall Pick, The Carolina Panthers Select...

The Panthers boast the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year. Will they find him help in the 2013 BRB Mock Draft, or does Carolina try to add a weapon to the offense?

I remain a hater, and I will, in fact, hate.

Chris Trotman

UTBawse23 mimes Cam Newton's ridiculous Superman touchdown celebration and then lays some knowledge on us all about what the Panthers are going to do with their first round pick in the 2013 BRB Mock Draft.

With the 14th pick of the 2013 BRB NFL Mock Draft, the Carolina Panthers select Star Lotulelei (DT--Utah).

I almost went receiver here, as the Carolina Panthers could use a young WR to groom and play opposite of Steve Smith. The glaring hole on the D-line, however, was too big to ignore. Then the question was do I take Sheldon Richardson or Star? With Star, they get what some experts had rated as a top 10 overall player in this draft (at least before the health concerns). Carolina already has a solid LB corps, bolstered by last year's 1st rounder and DROY Luke Kuechly. I also believe Star will be a better fit with Carolina than Richardson. With this pick, Carolina improves their front 7 and a defense that was already ranked 10th in total defense last year. If Star can control his weight and maintain his work ethic, he could be the missing piece that solidifies their defense going forward.

I love me some Star, so far be it for me to quibble with this pick. FreeRange and the New Orleans Saints are now on the clock. Given the weekend break, that means his pick is due to me by 7 p.m. CDT on Sunday. What I'm sure is his genius will be revealed at 10 a.m. CDT on Monday when the 2013 BRB Mock Draft resumes in all its glory.
