The NFL Owners have heard the proposals and awarded Super Bowl LI to the city of Houston in the wonderful state of Texas.

Today, the NFL Owners have awarded Super Bowl LI, that's 51 for anyone thrown off by Roman numerals, to the city of Houston, Texas. The vote came after San Francisco's beautiful new Levi's Stadium was awarded Super Bowl L over Miami, Florida. Miami then went head-to-head with Houston and lost, likely due to the stadium not receiving the necessary funds to renovate their stadium. Let's get an official Tweet, shall we?

2017 will mark the third time the game will be held in Houston and the second Super Bowl played in Reliant Stadium, the other's being 1974's Super Bowl VIII and Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. This time around, the Houston Super Bowl Bid Committee didn't have to wait 30 years to bring the game back to Space City.

Of course, this does mean millions of dollars of tourism money being injected into the city of Houston. This also will likely spark some sort of resolution with the Astrodome. I personally cannot see Super Bowl LI being played with the decaying Dome in the background. Whether parking, hotels, or beautification of the area, I imagine there will be some changes to Reliant Park to make the 2017 experience immaculate.

What say you, Houstonians and non-Houstonians? Happy to see the Super Bowl back in the Lone Star State? Did you go to the festivities in 2004? What do you hope is improved upon this time around? Will you attempt to cross a bucket list item off your list in 2017? Sound off below.
