Houston Texans Newswire: Bun B Holding It Down For Houston

David Beckham approached about being NFL kicker, Bun B holding it down for Houston, and more in this edition of the Newswire.

Houston Texans News

Stink Questions Schaub.

ESPN talking head and three-time Super Champion Mark Schlereth, recently said the Texans are a complete team. But, with one major flaw -

"The one question mark is the quarterback," Schlereth said of veteran Matt Schaub.

"(He's) a little bit iffy."

At this point, anything that is not live sports on ESPN I take with a grain of salt. ‘Embracing Debate' has warped sports television for the foreseeable future. I don't necessarily disagree with ‘Stink'; the Texans will go as far as Schaub can take them. That said, I wouldn't call him iffy. The question is, have we seen the best of Matt Schaub already or is the best yet to come?

Houston Music Legend Talks Texans .

You can't live in Houston for very long without hearing a car blearing UGK or Bun B as it rolls down the street. Bun B has ingrained himself into Houston culture; so much so, that the rapper is doing public service announcements with Houston Mayor Annise Parker.

Bun B sat down for the "Off the Turf with Scurf" podcast to talk about his love for the Texans, and his new website

One of These Things is Not Like the Other.

Tweet Deck is a great tool to organize Twitter, refining the constant flow of information of the people I follow. What do I see today under my Houston sports filter?

One of these things is not like the others. Brandon Harris, I don't know the answer to your question. I'm not sure if I want to know why you're asking.

Around the League

David Beckham: Future NFL Kicker?

The NFL may soon be following the MLS (of all leagues) in a public relations move to bring David Beckham to American football. Major League Soccer league paid a record sum of money to bring the international superstar to American shores in 2007. The British Paper ‘The Mirror' wrote that a NFL scout approached Beckham about becoming a kicker. It appears Beckham said he was uninterested. BRB, would you want ‘Becks' in the NFL?

Really Jerry? It's Comes Down to Bill Callahan?

The Cowboys have slipped deeper and deeper into madness each season. Case in point, they are relying on former Raiders and Nebraska coach Bill Callahan to save their play-calling. Kevin Patra writes Callahan is ‘excited' to call plays. At least somebody is excited. Wasn't the point of Jason Garrett becoming coach his play-calling? Jerry Jones, don't ever change.

Really?! Packers. Under the Radar?

All-world quarterback Aaron Rodgers, recently talked with ESPN Wisconsin and talked about the current state of the Packers.

"I love it. I love being under the radar," Rodgers told Jason Wilde of recently. "For sure, we're a contender. For sure. I mean, we're going to put ourselves in position to win a lot of games. Our goal is to win our division and get to the playoffs. And anything can happen. And then hopefully we can take care of business like we did in 2010 when we get back there.

The NFL didn't do us any favors with the schedule, but we don't need them to."

I don't believe anyone thinks the Packers are under the radar. They may not be the top dog for the first time in a while. But the list of teams that might be better than Green Bay is extremely short. Watch...they'll fly all the way under the radar, all the way to the Super Bowl.

Johnny Football Has One Foot Out The Door.

By now, everyone has seen the Johnny Manziel tweet about College Station. After next season, Manziel can enter the draft. The question then turns to ‘how good of an NFL quarterback can he be?" Mike Freeman goes in depth on the question for CBS Sports.
