Houston Texans Training Camp 2013: Reed, Foster, Posey On PUP List; Montgomery, Williams Active

The Houston Texans, readying for training camp, made a few moves today -- some of them a little surprising.

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

Ed Reed, Arian Foster and DeVier Posey all started training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, to the surprise of no one. Not to worry, though, as all three can be removed at any time. Leaving them on the PUP list allows the team to open up a few roster roster spots.

According to this news release, these two new roster additions stack up as such:

NAME
POS
HT
WT
AGE
EXP
COLLEGE
Elbert Mack
CB
5-10
175
27
6
Troy
Daniel Muir
NT
6-2
322
29
7
Kent State

A 322-pound NT sounds pretty good right about now, but we all know that's a pipe dream at this point.

Now for some good news:

Williams passed physical after knee surgery.</p>&mdash; John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) <a href="https://twitter.com/McClain_on_NFL/statuses/360541922726653954">July 25, 2013</a></blockquote>

This is fantastic news for both of these players after the mini-panic fans went through this past week. Montgomery apparently showed up to camp out of shape and was placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list. Williams was placed on the PUP list after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery recently. Hearing that both of these rookies are healthy, in-shape and active is a big relief for fans like me ready to overreact to everything.

Lastly, ILB Darryl Sharpton will begin training camp on the aforementioned NFI list. Speaking of overreactions, our defense is DOOMED if he can't play this season.
