Chester Pitts and Ephraim Salaam have quite the history together, some would even call it an amazing history.

It was Salaam, as you remember, who encouraged Pitts to begin playing football as a walk-on at San Diego State University. This story was forever immortalized in a great commercial that aired during Super Bowl XLII. The two became Houston Texans teammates between 2006 and 2009. Now, they're teaming up once again to take on CBS' The Amazing Race. You can see the cast reveal video here with the in-depth focus on Team Texans here.

For those unaware or questioning the fairness of (retired) professional athletes in a competition, The Amazing Race is a nine-time Emmy award winning reality television competition where teams of two tackle mental and physical challenges and race around the world for a $1 million grand prize. Pitts and Salaam will be competitors on the show's 23rd(!!!) season. The season has already completed filming, but will air throughout the fall Sunday nights on CBS starting on September 29th at 7 pm Houston time.

Pitts and Salaam aren't the first professional athletes or team of athletes to compete, but they'll be aiming to follow up last season's winning pair of professional hockey players.

It's a pretty cool experience for Pitts and Salaam, two very likable former Texans, and here's hoping they'll represent well. Or at least better than former Colt Marcus Pollard who, teamed with his wife, finished third.
