For the majority of the game, your Houston Texans looked downright dominant. They marched down the field, had the ball for 12 of the first quarter's 15 minutes, and forced their NFL-leading 13th and 14th three-and-out. Sure, they only held a 6-0 lead, thanks to Randy Bullock remembering how to kick field goals, but it seemed like an impossible wall to climb for Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens.
Flag happy referees, for both sides, helped Baltimore get in position for a field goal before Baltimore linebacker Daryl Smith jumped an intended pass to Owen Daniels and took it back for a touchdown. The Smith pick-six was followed up by an 82-yard Tandon Doss punt return for a touchdown and a 47-yard Bullock field goal to get us to this 17-9 deficit at halftime.
The defense has looked stout, the special teams solid until that punt return touchdown, and the offense is missing its All-Pro left tackle. It's been hard for Houston to generate any push or consistent protection for Matt Schaub. The major halftime adjustment will need to come along the offensive line, as the offense will continue to struggle unless the Texans figure something out to slow down Terrell Suggs and company.
This is your second open game day thread for today's Houston-Baltimore game. Go forth and comment, BRBers.
