It's official! After leaving the first game of the season early with a torn meniscus, Jadeveon Clowney will finally return to action for your Houston Texans. It was stated that he would miss 4-6 weeks after knee surgery, and now he's back in the lineup for Game 8 in Tennessee. Look for him to be in mostly on third-down situations, as they will ease him back with limited play-count the first few games. We FINALLY get to see him and J.J. Watt together again!
That's the good news. The bad news, is that ILB Brian Cushing will be out today to rest his knee. Akeem Dent is officially starting in Cushing's role. I'd love to see Brooks Reed move inside, with Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus on the outside for a few plays to see what type of havoc that could create for a rookie quarterback.
"If it was just soreness and pain I could play through it," Cushing said Friday. "But if it’s at the point where I could be hurting something or doing something worse, then we have to take into account with the decision what’s best for everyone"
"There’s no one who wants to be out there more than I do," he said. "That’s just the bottom line. It’s been frustrating, but it’s been a frustrating three years. So it’s something I’ve kind of had to learn to live with, play with and deal with. It’s been tough, but at the same time, we kind of have to look out for the longevity of this season."
