Today is Veterans Day. We at Battle Red Blog therefore interrupt our breathless anticipation of the Ryan Mallett Era to thank all those of have served, are serving, and/or will serve our great nation.
In posts to honor this occasion over the last few years, I have referenced the following passage, as Woodrow Wilson is far more eloquent than yours truly.
Back in 1919, Woodrow Wilson proclaimed that November 11th of every year would be a day to honor those who have served by saying, in part:
"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"
To all of you who are serving or have served our country, please know how thankful we are for what you have done and/or continue to do. You have sacrificed in ways that are impossible for the rest of us to fathom, and we are beyond appreciative for it.
