Probably not too many people thought this would be a big game in August, but here we are. The winner of this game goes to 6-4 and moves to within a half game of the Cincinnati Bengals for the final AFC Wild Card spot, with less than half the season to play, while the loser falls to .500 and faces a serious uphill battle for a playoff berth in the extremely competitive AFC.
And some things to look out for...
- Ryan Tannehill has continued to mature into a young (and underrated) quarterback. He's currently completing over 64% of his passes for 234 yards per game, and has thrown 15 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions.
- Miami currently boasts one of the stingiest defenses in the league. They're 4th in yards allowed (2788) and points allowed (171). They've been particularly effective against the pass, where they're currently ranked second in the league at 1897 yards allowed.
- The Bills traded up in the first round in the 2014 draft to select WR Sammy Watkins, and he has proven himself worth the investment in his rookie year. He ranks 21st in the league in yards (617), tied for 7th in touchdowns (5), and 31st in receptions (42). Not bad for a rookie whose been working with Kyle Orton and EJ Manuel as his quarterbacks.
- Buffalo's defense has been nearly as good as Miami's this season. They rank 6th in yards (2886) and 7th in points (182), so this could very well turn into a defensive showdown with neither team scoring more than 20 points.
Enjoy and discuss!
